If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. For God insert appropriate deity, Universe, etc. and suitable pronoun can change to Her, They, It.
I have a plan that involves seeing out this year. That's it. Nothing more. The time has come for me to plan for next year. I'm considering options but not in any direction. There are many choices. Stay home? Or travel? Work? Where?
I ran into an acquaintance on Sunday and the first thing he said when he'd processed that I was studying teaching was, "So when are you going to Korea?" - the teach-English-in-Korea thing is pretty big as its well paid and an adventure. All you need is a degree. Its an option but not a plan. Yet.
Today, the Universe decided to laugh at me. How? I'm not going to say. Not yet, anyway. Suffice to say its ROFLIAO. The "I" is "it's" in the amended acronym. I'm not unhappy about it. I just feel like saying "I shoulda known." I shoulda known.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's the blog. I have 5 potential posts rolling around in my head, so I'm off to find some paper and long-hand them all out. Let's see what free association gives me. Oh, I'll clean it up before I post. But this was typed directly. I don't know if this metablogging comment has meaning for you.

Oh no, did you see the card for today (or possibly it would be for your tomorrow)? Phoenix. Yikes. Couldn't be more disruptive if it had been The Tower! Cover your head and tred lightly. Then laugh back. It's either that, or ya know, give your sanity back.
On a side note, in relation to blog writing, I tend to do mine on scraps of recycled envelopes with one of my free pens. THEN I type it in. Then of course, I have to edit the shit out of it, about nineteen times. But, that's just me.
(Envision me with my arm around you, and an umbrella over our heads.)

I'm going to lump several replies into one here.
First, thanks for the warm welcome on the other thread, and I'm quite honored and more than a little intimidated by the thought of being the sole voice of my gender on your blog.
Second, in answer to your previous question RE: my education, I was a law enforcement major/forensic science minor who was constantly being recruited for other disciplines. In retrospect, I probably should have chosen one of those.
Finally, we developed a saying here at the police academy. As we sat at dinner one night laughing hysterically (in the most literal sense of the word) at something that was barely amusing, one of our classmates glanced over and asked why we were laughing. Without missing a beat, my friend replied, "At this point, it's either laugh or cry, and I'm all out of tears!"

Poor Sarah. If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone: I FINALLY decided that I had a clear career direction and focus, I found the perfect job, I rounded up reference writers and past professors, I revised my resume, wrote a cover letter, I sent it all in on Monday, I was full of a new optimism and energy... And by Monday night I got the email that said they'd already filled the job.
Honey, I hear you.

That happens to me too.... I make plans and then they get turned upside down or sideways. At this point, I'm lucky that I'm definitely employed for the next year, and beyond that?? Well, if I make plans for that, I'm 99% sure they'll change by next September, so I won't make them.

I know that everything happens for a reason, it's just that I need to remember that when everything is happening.
In light of time zone differences and the number of Betty Blogs I think I'll blog every two or three days to give everyone a chance to see the link on the blogroll (snort - NOT bogroll - literal toilet humour!) and respond.
There might be a post later.

I like reading blogs about people who came to a fork in the road and took a different path than mine. One of the blogs that I enjoy is written by an Irishwoman who is currently teaching English in Korea. If you want to get someone else's perspective on that type of experience, I would recommend it: the Coffee Helps blog.

A quote from one of my favourite songs from Depeche Mode songs:
"I don't mean to start any blasphemous rumours but I think that God has a sick sense of humour, and when I die I expect to find him laughing..."
And yes, the extraneous u's are important.
*hugs*
I'm going to read through your entire blog and follow you, if you don't mind....
:)

Hey Stormy. Great Lyric. It feels cool that you are going through my "back catalogue" as it were. Enjoy. And if there are any threads you want to post on where comments may be closed - feel free to put it on one of the recent posts.
